18Loop is distributing Facebook/Oculus VR headsets and Tripp VR Stress Management solutions in its Virtual Comfort Pilot. We have invested time in testing the technology and will continue to evaluate commercially available platforms. We also continue to work with partners in Silicon Valley to identify and deploy the best VR environments for pain management. We believe that VR will eventually contribute to higher pediatric oncology cure rates through increased tolerance to treatment.
With 18Loop VR, kids with cancer can not only be immersed in a virtual experience, but can be usefully engaged in play that will distract from the pain of inpatient treatments as well as the outpatient recovery process. As early as 2007, researchers were theorizing that Virtual Reality would be important in patient recovery. You can learn more:

18Loop expects that Virtual Comfort will afford pediatric oncology patients the access to high technology that they otherwise would not have exposure to. Our kids will be able to connect in the hospital and in the home environment.
